The William Henry Warren House is the oldest house still standing and occupied in Maple Hill Township. It was built by William Henry Warren and his wife Maria Joy (Cheney) Warren in 1874-1875. It was the grandest residence in Maple Hill Township when built, and had a large front parlor, a central hallway, a sitting room, a dining room, a kitchen and a pantry on the first floor. The second floor had 7 bedrooms and a “commode room” which was a closet-like room with and outhouse-like seat. Upstairs was a large plastered area which was used to house ranch hands and servants. The large basement contained a “storm shelter” which was made by placing full-sized walnut logs overhead with stone walls to prevent the house from caving in on top people seeking shelter from tornadoes. The last family members to occupy the home were William Dura Warren and his sons, Jack and Bill Warren. The Eliot Congregational Church (The Old Stone Church) was founded in the historic parlor of this house in 1875 and many church socials were held there. The piano was the second in Maple Hill Township, the first belonging to the Stephen Bourassa family who brought it from Kansas City in the 1850s.

In 2010 the home was purchased by historic preservationist Bud Hund and his wife Catherine of Paxico. The Hunds provided a complete exterior and interior restoration of the 140-year-old home and added a three-car garage.
