This is a photograph that belonged to my paternal grandmother, Mabel Rachel (Jones) Clark. She didn’t remember the exact year it was made but guessed about 1923 or 1924. Her father, Leander Emory Jones and step-mother, Susanna (Rinehardt) Jones were both very active in the Modern Woodmen of American and the Royal Neighbors of America. Grandmother Clark continued participating throughout her entire life serving in most of the offices. The ladies had decorated their car/float and were getting ready to participate in a parade. Sitting in the front passenger seat is Mrs. Ora Christian. In the driver’s seat is Mrs. Olive “Ollie” Scofield. Stand in the back, L-R are Mildred Romig, Margaret Mitchell and Rua (Mitchell) Clark. Sitting in the back are L-R: Ella Hammarlund and Carrie Butefish. Some of their husbands are sitting in the car behind theirs.
