The tenth child of Jude W. and Marie Catherine (Sharrai) Bourassa was Adelaide Delilah Bourassa, born on the Bourassa farm on Mill Creek, in what became known as Maple Hill Township, Wabaunsee County, Kansas. She seems to have been called by the name Delilah more than Adelaide. She was born on December 5, 1850.
Delilah attended boarding school at the St. Marys Mission School, St. Marys, Kansas. She lived on the Bourassa farm during the summers and worked on the farm when home. She lived in the log house where her other brothers and sisters lived, next to her mother, Catherine Bourassa-Greemore-Leslie.
As one of her siblings describes in an interview, Delilah did not have an easy time and was not fortunate in marriages. She was married three times and had children by each marriage.
She first married Joseph Leon Bergeron at St. Marys Cathedral, St. Marys, Kansas on January 31, 1870. There were four children born to this marriage: Delana 1870-1888; Leon T. 1872-1872; Joseph L. 1874-1897; and Helena 1877-1936. The Bergerons first lived at Maple Hill and then moved to Deliala’s Potawatomi allotment in Oklahoma. They moved to Parsons, Kansas and then back to Wanette, Oklahoma where her husband Joseph died in 1879.
In 1880, she married George Washington Gregson. He was born in Texas in 1847 but died in Ardmore, Oklahoma on June 26, 1912. They were the parents of George Arthur Gregson (1881-1959) and Cora E. Gregson (1883-1964.) Both children were born in Pottawatomi County, Oklahoma in Indian Territory.
Delilah was divorced from Gregson before 1890 and was married a third time to: Thomas F. Griffin. They were the parents of two children: Dora F (1890-1971) and Cora E. (1892-1971)
Adelaide Delilah Bourassa-Bergeron-Gregson-Griffin died on March 22, 1900 and is buried at Wanette Cemetery, Pottawatomi, Oklahoma.
