Maple Hill, Kansas: Its History, People, Legends and Photographs

Good morning friends. Tomorrow I will board a big silver bird and fly to Dallas, London and Nice, France where I’m going to spend the next month at a little village, Villefrance Sur Mer, on the French Riviera. The old song says, “How you gonna keep’em down on the farm after they’ve seen Paris?” Well, it wouldn’t be hard for me. I’d rather be in Maple Hill, Kansas but someone has to help the struggling European economy.

Villefrance is about half way between Nice and Monaco, and about 15 minutes on the train from the Italian border. I’ve always wanted to learn more about French culture, geography, language and people and my mother used to say, “Its never too late.” It looks like the temperatures there are going to be in the lower 70s during the daytime and the mid-50s at night so I’ll enjoy escaping a month of 105 to 110 here in Palm Springs!

While I’m gone, I’m hoping that many of the Maple Hill Page users will scan and download Maple Hill photographs and stories so the page will keep active. According to the reports I get each week, we now have over 600 people viewing the page so there should be many of you out there who would like to participate.

Rester bien et heureux!! See you in early July. Nick
